WhatsApp has added a fingerprint release feature in the latest update. The new fingerprint unlocking feature first appeared in the WhatsApp beta version 2.19.221 and was later rolled out to stable with version 2.19.308. This feature is therefore available worldwide live in the WhatsApp Android app. Simply update your WhatsApp to the latest version via the Play Store and follow these instructions to enable Whatsapp fingerprint unlocking on Android.

First update you app to the latest version, which should be version 2.19.308 or newer. Once you have the latest version, open WhatsApp and go to the Settings menu via 3-dot menu. Go in the Settings then Account -> Privacy. In the Privacy section, scroll to the end and you will get the “Fingerprint lock” option. Simply tap that option and you will be asked to confirm your fingerprint. This uses the standard fingerprint settings of the device. If you have already used fingerprints on your phone, register your fingerprint and get the options to enable fingerprint unlocking. And if the fingerprint is not set on your device, first configure it and then follow the same procedure.

WhatsApp “Fingerprint lock” function gives you the option to set an automatic lock interval that you can set to immediately, after 1 minute or after 30 minutes. You can still able to receive whatsapp call while it lock.
