The Outlast Trials will be released in early access on May 18, developer Red Barrels reports. The game will then appear for the PC. The game takes place in the universe of the Outlast games and is given a co-op option.

Red Barrels shares The Outlast Trials early access release date in a short trailer. It shows how various voice actors from The Outlast Trials do recordings for the horror game. The game will be released on May 18 via Steam and the Epic Games Store. It is unknown when the game will be released outside of early access. The developer also does not mention a possible release for consoles. The developer previously said that the game should come to the PlayStation in due course.

The Outlast Trials was announced earlier and developer Red Barrels already held a closed beta at the end of last year. Players involuntarily participate in the “unethical experiments” of the Murkoff Corporation, which tests “sophisticated methods of brainwashing and mind control.” Players must complete the trials and collect documents along the way that can help prove Murkoff’s malpractice.

Players can play The Outlast Trials alone or with up to three others. The game, according to Red Barrels, revolves around avoiding, hiding and running from enemies, just like the other Outlast games.
