Chinese smartphone brand Honor has announced the thinnest foldable smartphone to date. The Magic V2 is 4.7mm thick when unfolded and 9.9mm when closed. That is slightly thicker than a regular smartphone.

The smartphone also weighs 231g, about the same as a regular large smartphone. The Magic V2 is 15.6cm high and 7.4cm wide when folded. This makes it the size of a regular smartphone. The housing does not have an IP rating for dust or water resistance.

The screen on the outside is a 6.43″ OLED screen with 2376×1060 pixels. That’s a ratio of about 20.2:9, slightly longer than most smartphones. On the inside is an almost square 7.92″ OLED screen with 2344×2156 pixels. Both screens have a 120Hz refresh rate and support for stylus input.

The Magic V2 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, assisted by 16GB of RAM. There will be variants with 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage. The primary camera has a 50-megapixel sensor. The ultra-wide-angle camera also has a 50-megapixel sensor and there is a 20-megapixel camera with 2.5x zoom compared to the primary camera. The battery has a capacity of 5000mAh and can be charged at 66W. The phone will only be released in China for the time being. The cheapest version costs 8999 yuan, currently equivalent to approximately 1125 euros. The most expensive version costs the equivalent of 1,500 euros. The predecessor, Magic Vs, was released in Europe after some time. It is unclear whether that will also happen with this phone.
