Honor announces Magic 5 Pro for 1200 euros

The Chinese smartphone brand Honor has announced its new smartphones Magic 5 and Magic 5 Pro at the Mobile World Congress telecom fair. The Pro is the more expensive of the two and has three 50-megapixel cameras on the back.

The Magic 5 Pro has as its primary camera a 50-megapixel sensor with an area of ​​98 square millimeters and an optical format of 1/1.12″. This makes it not the largest camera sensor in a smartphone, because these are 1″ sensors of around 120 square millimeters . It is larger than in many other smartphones. The Lens has an f/1.6 aperture.

The 50-megapixel camera with ultra-wide-angle lens has an aperture of f/2.0 and has the ability to serve as a macro camera with a minimum focus distance of 2.5cm. The telephoto camera has a magnification of around 3.5x with an f/3.0 lens.

The phone has a 6.8″ OLED screen with a resolution of 2848×1312 pixels. The screen reaches 1800 candela per square meter, the manufacturer claims. That is brighter than its predecessor Magic 4 Pro.

The smartphone runs on Android 13 with Honor’s own Magic OS over it. The soc is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The phone has a 5100mAh battery that can be charged with 66W wired or with 50W wirelessly.

Besides the Pro version, there is also one Magic 5. It has the same soc and battery, among other things, but differs from the Pro version with a smaller screen that can be less bright and a different camera set-up. Both phones will be released in the spring. The Magic5 will cost 900 euros in Europe, the Magic5 Pro will cost 1200 euros.
