Homey gets Family Sharing and guest account option
Athom has released an update to its Homey smarthome hub that adds Family Sharing. It allows users to let family members manage the Homey and to configure exactly what they can do. A guest account is also possible.
Family Sharing is intended to allow Homey owners to invite family members and give them access to the connected devices. Users who receive an invitation must create an account and then gain access. Exactly what the family members have access to can be set by the owner. There are four roles: Owner, Admin, User, and Guest. Homey has put details about it on its website.
The update also adds the option to set up a guest account. This allows friends, domestic help and temporary guests to operate the Homey. It is possible to temporarily enable or disable guest users with a Flow.
Furthermore, Athom says that setting up a Homey is now easier, because Wi-Fi setup is now available in the Homey app. The makers of the smarthomehub have also redesigned the chat function in the app. This feature allows users to type in commands such as ‘turn on all the lights at the top’.
The new functionality is in Homey v2.1.1 and to use it, version 2.2.0 newer of the Homey app must be installed on the connected smartphone.
