Hogwarts Mystery lands on smartphones on April 25th

Last December, Warner Bros. announced that they were working on a Harry Potter game that you would put in the shoes of a student at Hogwarts. This game, not to be confused with the Harry Potter AR-game byPokémon Go-makers Niantic, lets you create your own student. Then you have to choose a house, follow lessons and make friendships or enter into rivalries with other students.

The choices you make influence what happens at a later time in the game. You can experience adventures and the results determine how you will play the game. That sounds a bit like Telltale’s choose-your-own-adventure games, which with their Walking Dead game threw years ago. Check the trailer below:

Nice is that there is a lot of talent with the game. You can hear the voices behind Professor McGonagall, Dumbledore, Flitwick and Madame Hooch, Irma Pince and Pomfrey, because the original actors participate. Ron, Hermione and Harry are not going to meet you, because the game is set in the 80’s, before that group was born.
The game is released on April 25, the developer says Jam City on their blog. It’s free to play, so you can probably spend money in the game to speed things up, but that’s a gamble on our part. Hogwarts Mystery will be released on iOS, Android and will even be available via the Amazon app store.
