Hitman Trilogy Also Coming to Game Pass on January 20, PC Version Getting VR

Spread the love

IOI Interactive announces new content for Hitman 3 and comes with a bundle of the three games. That Hitman trilogy bundle will be released on January 20th and will also be available within Microsoft’s Game Pass subscription. The Steam version will get a VR option on the same date.

The bundle is officially called Hitman Trilogy and contains Hitman 1, 2 and 3. The collection will be available for PC on the Epic Games Store and on Steam. There will also be versions for the PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S. The PC and Xbox versions will also be added to Microsoft’s Game Pass subscriptions.

With the introduction of Hitman Trilogy, the previously announced VR mode also comes out. This allows all levels of Hitman 1, 2 and 3 to be played in virtual reality. The announcement from IOI Interactive states that the VR mode will work with the PC version. That probably applies to the versions on Steam and the Epic Games Store. Games in the Microsoft Store do not yet support VR.

The PC version will also receive support for ray tracing and Intel’s upscale technology XeSS, but that will happen later in 2022. A date for this is not yet known. Also, the PC version gets variable rate shading, which should improve performance.

Hitman Freelancer with roguelike elements

Hitman 3 will get a completely new single player mode in the spring, called Freelancer. According to the developer, that mode includes roguelike elements, strategic planning, and a customizable safehouse. That Agent 47 hideout is one of the new locations being added to the game. By progressing through Freelancer mode, players can unlock more areas of the hideout. Mission planning also takes place here and players can practice with weapons.

Freelancer mode features campaigns with missions set in locations around the world. Players must choose the order in which they want to complete the missions, and in between missions they are given the option to return to the safehouse, pick up new gear and plan the next mission. According to IOI, campaign missions have been modified to make them suitable for Freelancer mode. For example, new NPCs have been added at existing locations that can help with the mission, or try to prevent it.

Unlike the normal Hitman campaign, Agent 47’s gear in Freelancer mode is not persistent. Everything a player leaves behind during a mission is lost. An exact date for the release of the new game mode is not yet known.

Elusive Target Arcade

On January 20, Hitman 3 will receive an Elusive Target Arcade. This is a variant of the Elusive Target mode with new challenges and rewards that players get when they complete the quest. Assignments must be completed sequentially; players can only continue after completing a Contract. If players fail to complete an Arcade Contract, they will not be able to try again until 12 hours later. Developer IOI says that it will retain the high-stakes gameplay that is characteristic of the Elusive Target mode.

Arcade Contract are permanent additions to Hitman 3. They will not disappear over time. Initially, there will be three of these missions available. More will be added over the course of the year.
