Hisense shows UX mini LED television with peak brightness of up to 2500cd/m²
Hisense announces its UX television at CES in Las Vegas. This TV has a mini LED backlight and, according to the manufacturer, achieves a peak brightness of up to 2500cd/m². The manufacturer does not mention a suggested retail price or release date.
The Hisense UX is the first television in the company’s ULED X series. The television will have a screen diagonal of 85 inches and a backlight of more than 20,000 miniLEDs with ‘more than 5,000’ zones for full-array local dimming. This means that the TV achieves peak brightnesses of up to 2500cd/m², the manufacturer claims. The previous U8H had an advertised peak brightness of 1500cd/m², though Digital Trends writes that in practice it also achieved brightness levels close to 2000cd/m². Hisense speaks of a ’16-bit light control’ algorithm that should offer better dimming for a higher contrast.
The manufacturer does not say whether the TV will have HDMI 2.1 support. According to Digital Trends, the television can handle Dolby Vision HDR and supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Wi-Fi 6E. The ULED X also gets a 4.1.2 speaker system with seven speakers, which also supports Dolby Atmos, according to the manufacturer. Hisense does not mention a release date or MSRP for the UX.
