HIS introduces economical R7 360 video card with 50 Watt TDP

HIS has announced an R7 360 video card that can be used without a PCIe power plug. According to the manufacturer, the TDP is 50 watts, while the AMD reference design prescribes a TDP of 100 watts.

The video card goes through life as HIS R7 360 Green iCooler OC 2GB. It is striking that HIS has managed to reduce the tdp of the card considerably, to 50 watts. AMD itself prescribes a tdp of 100 watts and some manufacturers give their versions of the R7 360 a tdp of 150 watts. It is not entirely clear how HIS managed to get the tdp so low, but the manufacturer does claim that the mosfets used provide a saving of 30 percent.

Because the Green version of the HIS R7 360 has a TDP of less than 75 watts, no PCIe plug is needed to connect the video card. According to HIS, the tdp also ensures a temperature that is 8 to 10 degrees lower, although the manufacturer does not indicate what that decrease should be seen in relation to. HIS is probably referring to R7 360 cards with a higher tdp. The 90mm fan should also be quiet due to the lower temperatures, although the manufacturer does not provide details about rotation speeds and noise production.

As the name suggests, it is a video card with a higher clock speed than the reference design. With 1070MHz, the GPU clock speed is slightly higher than the 1050MHz that AMD prescribes. The gddr5 memory, of which 2GB is present, runs at the standard speed of 6GHz and the card has a 128-bit wide memory bus. The R7 360 has a Tobago GPU that is baked at 28nm and has 768 stream processors.

HIS equips the PCIe 3.0 card with a displayport 1.2 connector that supports a resolution of up to 4096×2160 pixels. There are also two DVI-D connections and an HDMI port. The video card has a suggested retail price of 99.90 euros.
