Hexgears to produce wireless low-profile mechanical keyboard
Hexgears has more than met its Kickstarter target and is set to produce the X-1. This is a wireless mechanical keyboard, with low profile form factor. Delivery should start in November.
The Hexgears X-1 has dimensions of 35.5x13x1.5cm and weighs 0.5 kilograms. The manufacturer equips the keyboard with mechanical Choc switches from the manufacturer Kaihua and offers a choice of White switches with a hard click, smooth Brown models or easy-press Red switches. The housing is made of aluminum.
The X-1 operates wirelessly via bluetooth, with 6-key rollover and the input device being powered from the 1000mAh battery, which would allow an estimated use of three months. The keyboard can also work via USB cable and is then completely n-key rollover. There is also RGB lighting.
Hexgears wanted to fund the production through Kickstarter and set a target of $35,000. That was achieved within a week and now, on the day of the end of the Kickstarter campaign, the counter stands at almost 350,000 dollars. For $99, people who support the project will get an X-1 with white keycaps and gray housing.
