Hello Games Announces No Man’s Sky Update After Period of Silence
After a period of silence, No Man’s Sky developer Hello Games has made a comeback. The company has announced an update for the game, which should be released this week. Among other things, the update makes it possible to build a base.
The patch has been dubbed the “Foundation Update” because it “lays the foundation for building a foundation and for things to come,” according to Hello Games. It adds that it is not a major update, but ‘a start’. There are no patch notes for the update available yet, which Hello Games plans to publish soon.
The studio discusses the silence that has reigned around the game, so this message is the first in about three months. The company calls the discussion that has arisen around the game “fierce and dramatic”. It promises that it will listen to the wishes of players and that it will continue to work on improving the game.
After the game’s release in August, reports quickly surfaced that certain features or capabilities did not match Hello Games’ promises. For example, it turned out that there is no multiplayer in the game, although that suggestion seemed to have been made beforehand. Sony CEO Shuhei Yoshida then described Hello Games’ PR strategy as “not great.”
The game has about 78,500 reviews on Steam, of which 55,000 are negative. The British advertising regulator launched an investigation into No Man’s Sky at the end of September over the images and videos of the game on the Steam store page. These would not match the actual game. It is unclear what the progress of the investigation is.
