Hellgate: London servers are shutting down
Publisher Namco Bandai takes the servers of Hellgate: London offline on January 31, 2009. Until then, the online roleplaying game from now-defunct Flagship Studios can be played for free.
Namco Bandai, the Japanese publisher who has been operating the servers of the online rpg Hellgate: London since July 2008 manages, throws in the towel. The servers on which the online part of the rpg runs will be closed on January 31, 2009 Closed. As a courtesy to the fans of the game, the servers can be played for free until that date.
Namco Bandai took over server hosting from Hellgate developer Flagship Studios in July, which ran into trouble and had to lay off nearly all of its staff. It is still unclear who owns the rights to the title. This also applies to the rights to the mmo Mythos, the second game under development at Flagship. The team that worked on Mythos at Flagship has started a new studio, which is working on a new massively multiplayer online game under the name Runic Games.
