Hearings on Pegasus: NSO remains vague about misuse of its spyware

Several European politicians took a new step on Tuesday in an investigation into the Pegasus spy software within the EU. D66 MEP Sophie in ‘t Veld, among others, wants to know who uses the eavesdropping software and why. How did that work again?

On Tuesday afternoon, the first hearing of a committee set up earlier this year to investigate the use of Pegasus will take place. Formally, that committee is called the ‘Inquiry Committee to Investigate the Use of Pegasus and Equivalent Surveillance Software’. Co-initiator of this is D66 MEP Sophie in ‘t Veld, but the proposal for a committee of inquiry is led by more than a small group.
