Head of BioWare Austin chooses job at Playdom

BioWare Austin head Gordon Walton is leaving EA for a job as an executive producer at social game developer Playdom. BioWare is currently under fire for criticism over the development of Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Walton leaves the studio during the development of BioWare’s first mmog, reports Develop. Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello has still have full confidence in The Old Republic. Riccitiello does not aspire to knock World of Warcraft off its throne, but does want to gain a large market share. However, investors think that EA does not know how to market an mmog.

Inside Social Games brought previously the news that Playfish coo Sebastien de Halleux and technology lead Sami Lababidi have left EA. Playfish is also a social game developer. Inside Social Games reports that both gentlemen will play an advisory role. Co-founder Shukri Shammas left the company in March 2010. Kristian Segerstale is the last co-founder to survive EA’s acquisition.
