Earlier, the show’s co-director, Craig Marzin, said in a podcast already that he planned to split the second game’s storyline over two seasons. “The remaining material is a lot more complicated and extensive than the first game. It’s impossible to tell the story of part 2 in one season.” There are no plans to continue beyond where the games’ stories left off, the series’ other director, Neil Druckmann, told me. in an interview. So unless a third game is released, the series’ story will end at the same point as Part II.

Two episodes of the first season are currently available on streaming service HBO Max. One is added every Monday morning. In total, the story of ‘Part I’ is told in nine episodes. Currently, the first episode of The Last of Us has been viewed more than 22 million times according to the American streaming platform. The premiere of episode 2 reached 5.7 million views in a day. That’s the largest percentage viewership growth of an HBO drama series between two episodes, states the TV network.
