HBO Go has Chromecast support
HBO Go has been offering support for the Google Chromecast since Tuesday. Users of the video service can stream movies and series to their TV with Chromecast dongle. It is possible to simultaneously cast an HBO program and watch it on a mobile device.
HBO subscribers must update the HBO Go app to make it work with the Chromecast, HBO Nederland reports. If the mobile device and the Google dongle are on the same network, the video service will automatically detect them and an icon will indicate that the clip, movie, series or documentary can be viewed on the TV screen.
There is support through the iOS app, the Android app, and through Google’s Chrome browser on OSX and Windows, but the latter two require the Google Cast extension. Among other things, it is possible to cast an HBO video to a TV via a smartphone or tablet and at the same time watch another program from the service on the mobile device itself. Also, the user can use other apps on their device while casting. There is also support for the automatic start of subsequent episodes and for language and subtitle settings.
