Havok acquires engine developer Trinigy
Havok is going to acquire Trinigy, the German company that develops the Vision Game Engine. Trinigy’s game engine runs across platforms and allows Havok to provide all the software needed for game building.
Havok takes over Trinigy for an undisclosed sum, reports Gamasutra. The acquisition should be completed by mid-August. Trinigy develops the multiplatform ‘Vision Game Engine’, which can be used on PCs, consoles and mobile devices. Trinigy recently announced that its engine is also available for the PlayStation Vita.
With the acquisition of Trinigy and the company’s engine, Havok completes its product range. Havok mainly supplies its middleware to game developers. Havok Physics for collision detection and physics is one of the best-known products from the developer’s stable. According to Havok, Physics is used in more than two hundred commercial titles. In addition, Havok makes products for artificial intelligence and animations. Havok was acquired by Intel in 2007.
