Google isn’t going to develop many different products. So says Rick Osterloh, the head of the search giant’s hardware division. Google released smartphones and a speaker last fall, but there is not much more in the pipeline.

Google mainly wanted to show its digital assistant Assistant with its products, Osterloh said in an interview with the Austrian newspaper Der Standard at the telecom fair Mobile World Congress. “We won’t have hundreds of products, we’re targeting some key areas,” said the head of the hardware division.

Osterloh leads Google’s division that brings together the various teams working on hardware within the search giant. This resulted in the release of the Google Home speaker and the two Pixel phones last fall.

In the same interview, where multiple media were present, Osterloh also said that the successors to the Pixel phones are coming this year and will again be expensive models, according to AndroidPit. The current Pixels came out in Germany for 759 and 899 euros. The Google CEO did not want to say anything about specs, features or a release date of the next Pixels, but hinted that the release will take place in the fall.
