Hardkernel: Intel has problems with delivery of Gemini Lake processors

Intel has problems supplying Gemini Lake processors, minipc maker Hardkernel says. The company wanted to have additional processors for its development board, but Intel will not be able to supply them in the coming months.

It’s unknown how many processors Hardkernel wanted, but the first batch was a shipment of 2,000 Gemini Lake processors, the company says. That indicates that it will not be about the delivery of tens of thousands or millions of copies of the J4105 quad-core that is in the Odroid H2.

Hardkernel heard from Intel that it won’t be able to tell you exactly when the processors will be available again until January, while delivery will probably not take place until February or March. It is the first time that a PC maker has released information about delivery times of Gemini Lake processors.

Anandtech writes that the information indicates that Intel is prioritizing its more expensive products such as Core and Xeon processors, which means that stock for these types of models would be delayed. Intel has not yet commented on the information.

Hardkernel presented the Odroid H2 last month. The company considered an AMD Ryzen processor, but it turned out to be too expensive. Two earlier prototypes of Hardkernel boards with Intel processors ultimately did not come on the market.
