HardKernel has announced a new development board with the Odroid-C1 that features a quadcore Amlogic S805 soc clocked at 1.5GHz. The Odroid-C1 has the same dimensions as the Raspberry Pi and is also just as expensive.

In addition to four ARM Cortex A5 cores, the Amlogic S805 soc also contains two ARM Mali 450MP GPU cores with a speed of 600MHz. Furthermore, the Odroid-C1 contains 1GB of RAM. MicroSD cards can be used for storage, but those who want more speed can use an emmc module. Odroid has also provided the C1 with four USB 2.0 connections, a USB-on-the-go port, a 40-pin GPIO connector, a micro HDMI output, an infrared receiver and a gigabit Ethernet connection.

The dimensions of the board are almost the same as those of a Raspberry Pi, although the C1 is considerably faster due to the better processor. Also priced at $35, or $28, the Odroid-C1 is about the same price as a Raspberry Pi B or B+. The power consumption is slightly higher at 2 to 3W. HardKernel recommends running Ubuntu 14.04 or Android Kitkat on the board. In the past, Odroids with Samsung Exynos quadcores appeared, which were a lot more expensive.
