Handmade stop-motion platformer Vokabulantis will be released at the end of 2024
A developer has raised money on Kickstarter to create Vokabulantis, a co-op platformer that uses handcrafted models and stop-motion. The Danish developer has been working on the game for years, which should be released at the end of 2024.
Vokabulantis is a co-op platformer for two players, but it is also possible to play the game alone. The game is about Karla and Kurt and in the role of those protagonists all kinds of puzzles have to be solved. According to the makers, the gameplay is inspired by games such as Unravel and the game will have about six to eight hours of gameplay. If you want to get all the achievements, you can add another two to four hours.
The game is a creation of Esben Kjær Ravn, owner of game studio Kong Orange, who previously released the game Felix The Reaper. He collaborates with the Danish animation studio Wired Fly Animation and with author Morten Søndergaard. The makers have the plan to release Vokabulantis on ‘all major platforms’, but do not mention any concrete details about it yet. The release date is therefore not yet close; the game is not scheduled to be released until December 2024.
Vokabulantis has been in development for years, which is apparent from the Wired Fly Animation site, where teasers of the game can already be seen in a blog post from 2018. The project has also received financial support from the Creative Europe Media Program of the European Union.
With a Kickstarter campaign, the makers have so far raised just under 72,000 euros. The target was set at 70,000 euros. The makers have several stretch goals, such as support for local co-op. That will come if 125,000 euros is pledged. You can support the development by committing 25 euros. In return, participants will receive two digital copies of the game, when it comes out.
