Halo 3, part of the PC-based Halo: The Master Chief Collection, arrives on July 14. The shooter from 2007 will then be available on Steam, but can also be purchased through the Microsoft Store. This makes the game playable on PC for the first time.

According to Microsoft, Halo 3 is optimized for PC and will also be available as part of Xbox Game Pass for PC. Halo: Reach, Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 were previously released as part of the Master Chief Collection. Halo 3: ODST and Halo 4 will probably be added before the end of the year, although release dates for these two remaining titles have not yet been announced.

Halo 3 came out in 2007 for the Xbox 360 and was very successful at the time. The shooter was originally developed by Bungie, but the Master Chief Collection is mainly developed by 343 Industries and Ruffian Games. The title is the final chapter in the original Halo trilogy. The multiplayer of part three was very popular at the time, partly because the playing fields could be adjusted, such as the places where vehicles and weapons were placed.

Developer 343 Industries isn’t just releasing already existing Halo games for another platform. The studio is also working on a new title in the series, Halo Infinite. It’s likely that the developer will reveal more about this game and possibly show footage during the upcoming Xbox Series X event on July 23. The Summer Game Fest website already mentions that the company will show gameplay of Halo Infinite on July 23.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection will receive support for 4k resolutions, HDR, ultrawide monitors and adjustable frame rates on PC. There are also sliders for adjusting the field of view and there is support for mouse and keyboard.
