Hackers may steal QBitTorrent and Deluge forum databases
Hackers may have broken into the servers of the qBittorrent and Deluge forums, among others. The databases of those two websites and many others are provided on website Databoss.io. The teams behind the websites are conducting an investigation.
TorrentFreak reports the news on Monday evening. Although the qBittorrent and Deluge teams have not yet given official confirmation of a hack, a .txt file named “databoss” was spotted on the Deluge forum’s server. That file can no longer be found because the Deluge team has temporarily taken the web servers offline. The Deluge client is therefore not available for download at the moment. No such evidence could be found on the qBittorrent forum, which is also currently offline. Both forums have “thousands” of members, according to Torrentfreak.
At the moment, the website where the databases of qBittorrent, Deluge and many other websites are offered is also offline. However, a screenshot from TorrentFreak shows the list of several websites that were allegedly hacked during 2015. The data would be offered for prices starting at 2 dollars per day, according to TorrentFreak. As far as we know, there are no plaintext passwords in the databases, but it may still turn out that the encrypted passwords are cracked over time. Furthermore, the range speaks of usernames, passwords, email addresses, IP addresses, phone numbers and more.
