The hackers who broke into the computer systems of the German parliament also gained access to Chancellor Merkel’s computer, sources say. E-mails were allegedly sent using Merkel’s e-mail account.

The German Sunday newspaper Bild am Sonntag reports that based on its sources. Hackers would have penetrated Merkel’s computer and gained access to her e-mail account, among other things. The burglars then sent e-mails on behalf of the Chancellor to officials, requesting a telephone consultation. In reality, clicking the link in the email installed malware, Bild am Sonntag said. The spread of the virus has, among other things, ensured that the hackers have stolen data.

Last week it was already revealed that hackers have broken into the computer network of the German parliament. This was reported by Der Spiegel sources. Malware was widely distributed within the network, and the infection is still believed to be out of control. You may even need to replace all 20,000 computers on the network to get rid of the malware. There are indications that the perpetrators of the hack come from Russia, according to the German newspaper. It may be state hackers from the foreign intelligence service SVR. It is not the first time that the accusing finger has been pointed at the Russian government after a hack.
