The hacker group Lapsus$ claims it has the source code of Bing and Cortana. The group says it hacked Microsoft, with the hackers claiming to have stolen 37GB of data. The data would come from an internal Azure DevOps server at Microsoft.

Lapsus$ announced on Sunday that they hacked Microsoft and got their hands on source code from Bing and Cortana, among others. The group has put some of the data online and according to BleepingComputer at least some of the data seems to come from Microsoft. Microsoft has informed BleepingComputer that the matter is under investigation.

The data mainly contains code and documentation from Bing and Cortana. In addition, the leaked files would also contain information about other projects at Microsoft, such as Bing Maps. In addition to the source code, the hackers may also have gotten their hands on internal emails and documentation. It seems to be mostly about mobile and web app information. According to BleepingComputer, the dataset does not contain data from, for example, Windows or Microsoft Office.

It is the second hack in a short time that Lapsus$ is making the public. The hacker group also claimed earlier this week that it would have hacked Okta. The authentication platform has confirmed that it has been affected by ransomware. The damage could potentially be significant, as Okta takes care of the security of other companies. Previously, Nvidia and Samsung were victims of the hacker group. Also in these hacks, source code was stolen and put online by Lapsus$
