Gurman: Apple to unveil its own password manager for iOS, iPadOS and macOS
Apple will unveil its own password manager during WWDC on June 10. This is what Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman says based on internal sources. The password manager should be available for iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS 15.
The password manager, which will reportedly be called Passwords, works with the iCloud Keychain. This keeps track of the user's passwords on all devices and can be found in the Settings. However, Apple wants to have a clear password app for users so that the company can compete with other password managers, such as 1Password and LastPass, claims Gurman. “By making the feature a special app, Apple wants to encourage users to use more secure passwords,” writes the Bloomberg journalist.
The app lists logins and divides details into different categories, such as accounts, Wi-Fi networks, and passkeys. Passwords can autofill passwords, just like other password managers. The app is also said to work with the Apple Vision Pro headset and on Windows PCs.
