Growth of GTA V deliveries has not increased after release on PS5 and Xbox Series
Take-Two shipped 5 million copies of GTA V in the past quarter. That is the same number as in previous quarters. So deliveries have not increased significantly after the arrival of the improved version for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
Since March 15, the enhanced version of GTA V for consoles is on sale. Two weeks before the end of the quarter what Take-Two has released figures on, the release took place. In the notes, the publisher does not state how many copies of the new version have been sold, but the increase in GTA V deliveries has in any case not increased.
Take-Two shipped 5 million copies of GTA V in the past quarter. Since early 2020, shipments of the game have increased by a similar number each quarter. Take-Two . says to Gamesindustry.biz yet that the new version has ‘exceeded expectations’. In total, Grand Theft Auto V has now been delivered 165 million times.
The total Grand Theft Auto franchise now stands at 375 million copies delivered. That is also an increase of 5 million copies compared to the previous quarter. That means Take-Two has shipped almost only copies of GTA 5 in the past quarter and not a significant number of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition.
Take-Two does not mention the sales of this remaster bundle. Earlier this year, the publisher said its sales were “better than expected.” At that time it was possible to deduce from figures that a maximum of approximately 10 million copies of the bundle were delivered.
Revenues from ‘recurring expenses’ such as microtransactions and DLC fell 6 percent from the same quarter a year earlier. According to Take-Two, this is due to the release of other major games, including those from the publisher itself. That would have affected the spending behavior of players.
Rockstar Games also released GTA+ at the end of the quarter. A subscription for GTA Online on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. It is not known how much people will pay for such a subscription, but Take-Two states that the “initial conversion exceeded expectations”.
