Great Scott! Back to the Future DeLorean car pre-orders open
Always wanted to drive a car that allows you to travel through time? Anyone interested in the DeLorean who starred in the Back to the Future movies can now express their interest by pre-ordering the car. The price is not known yet.
What the new DeLorean DMC-12 should cost, should be known in a few months, the company writes. Don’t expect a soft price. The original DMC-12 from the early 1980s cost $12,000, which, adjusted for inflation, would be $30,000. There is a chance that the car will become much more expensive, as the CEO of DeLorean previously said he hopes to keep the price just under $100,000.
But if you get your hands on one, you’re not likely to run into another on the road. DeLorean only makes one a month for the first few years and aims for one a week after the first two years. If you are interested, you can already pre-order. It does not oblige you to purchase.
About nine thousand of the original DMC-12 were made. The DeLorean became best known and famous for its stainless steel bodywork and for its role in the Back to the Future trilogy. In this the vehicle was of great importance as it could travel through time if it reached 88mph. This sparked the adventures of Marty McFly and Dr. Emmett Brown in the movies. The exact specs and features of the new DeLorean have not yet been determined. Whether time travel with the new model is possible, we will have to wait and see.
