GPD plans to ship first Pocket 2 mini laptops in October
GPD has started pre-ordering its Pocket 2 mini laptop through a crowdfunding campaign. The goal has now been achieved. The company reports that the first deliveries will take place in October.
The Pocket 2’s Indiegogo page shows that the company has already raised nearly half a million dollars in pre-orders. It had set a minimum target of $100,000. There are two variants of the Pocket 2, one with 4GB of memory and 128GB of emmc storage and one with double the amount of memory. The first version currently costs $529 compared to $599 for the version with 8GB of RAM. The final prices are $769 and $839. According to the faq, deliveries to the EU can be more expensive.
GPD, which stands for GamePad Digital, had previously announced the specifications of the successor to its first Pocket. The Pocket 2 has a touch-sensitive 7″ screen with a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels. The device runs on an Intel Core M3-7Y30 dual-core CPU with a standard clock speed of 1GHz and a turbo to 2.6GHz.
The updated Pocket has connections on both sides, including USB-C and two USB ports. There is also a micro SD card reader. The entire device weighs 465g, including a 6800mAh battery, and runs Windows 10.
