The Chinese company GamePad Digital has revealed some details about the GPD Pocket 2. This successor to the GPD Pocket released last year is thinner, has a faster processor and a keyboard without a control stick.

Like its predecessor, the mini laptop has a 7″ screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels, but GPD has exchanged the Intel Atom x7-Z8750 for a faster Intel Core M3-7Y30. Furthermore, the GPD Pocket 2 will receive a total of 4 or 8GB of RAM, 128GB of emmc 5.0-type storage and a battery with a capacity of 6800mAh.A co-founder of GPD has announced these specifications, writes the website Liliputing.

An important change is that the GPD Pocket 2 no longer has a small, round control stick on the keyboard, which does not have a backlight. Furthermore, the split space bar of the GPD Pocket has been replaced with a solid bar. The screen is touch-sensitive, but cannot be fully flipped; it’s not a 2-in-1 laptop.

As far as the connections are concerned, the GPD Pocket 2 now has two regular USB 3.x connections and, like its predecessor, a USB type-c connection. These ports are supplemented by a micro-SD port and a 3.5mm connection. With the Pocket 2, the connections are no longer all on the right side, but are distributed over both sides. There is also support for digital pen input and the fan in the laptop can be turned off at the touch of a button.

There is no official confirmation on the final price and availability dates yet, but it has been announced that the mini laptop may be available for pre-order via Indiegogo from July. The first copies of the GPD Pocket 2 may then be delivered sometime in August or September. The price should be lower than that of the Win 2; this handheld met its crowdfunding target in January, costing $649 to pre-order and $899 to purchase after release in May.
