The GoPro company, best known for its cameras, is said to be planning to bring drones to the market. The first models should be released at the end of next year with a price between 500 and 1000 dollars, converted and with VAT between 484 and 968 euros.

The rumors come from the usually well-informed The Wall Street Journal, which claims to have sources familiar with GoPro’s plans. The company is said to be planning to release drones for the consumer market. If everything goes according to plan, the first models should be in stores by the end of 2015, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The drones would be priced between $500 and $1,000 for the US market. Converted and including VAT, this amounts to a price between 484 and 968 euros, but it is not yet clear whether GoPro will also bring its drones directly to the European market. Little is known about the features, except that it concerns ‘helicopters’ with multiple rotors and that GoPro provides the devices with cameras.

GoPro is best known for its handy cameras, which are popular for making action videos, among other things. The company recently announced its new Hero line of cameras. With the top model, 4k video can be shot at 30fps and 1080p footage at 120fps.
