GoPro Introduces Hero8 Black Action Camera With Three Optional Modules
GoPro has announced the Hero8 Black. The new action camera is very similar to its predecessor. The biggest differences are the fold-out mounting bracket, better image stabilization and optional Media Mod: a housing with a microphone on which accessories can be attached.
Due to the fold-out mounting attachment on the bottom of the camera, the Hero8 Black can be mounted on a mount faster and easier, according to GoPro. The design hardly differs from that of the Hero7, but the new action camera would be equipped with a lens that is twice as impact-resistant.
With HyperSmooth 2.0, the camera has improved image stabilization for shake-free shots. It is available for all resolutions and frame rates, and has three settings: on, high and boost. The new TimeWarp 2.0 now automatically adjusts the speed of a time-lapse video to the movement in front of the lens, the detected scene and the available ambient light. The most interesting moments in the time-lapse video can also be ‘slowed down’ to the actual speed if desired.
The Hero8 Black also offers a LiveBurst feature that records three seconds of video; one and a half seconds before and after the moment of printing. Afterwards, the user can select the best frame from the LiveBurst as a photo or save the recording and share it as a video clip.
Together with the new action camera, GoPro is launching an optional Media Mod. It is a housing in which a better microphone is incorporated, as well as a 3.5 mm connection for other microphones, an HDMI output and two hot shoes for attaching two new accessories. The Light Mod is a lamp with ten LEDs and a light value of two hundred lumens. In addition, there is the Display Mod, an extra screen for, among other things, vloggers with which the user can see himself while filming.
Little has changed in the camera specifications. Like its predecessor, the Hero8 Black has a 12-megapixel sensor and support for 4k video recording at 60fps, in addition to 1080p recording at 240fps. The GoPro Hero8 Black is available from October 15 and has a suggested retail price of 430 euros. The Media Mod and the Display Mod cost 80 euros each. The Light Mod is for sale for 50 euros.
