Google will stop using Inbox on April 2
Google’s Inbox mail app will stop working on April 2. The end of the life of Inbox was already announced, but eventually the app will stop a little later than originally announced.
Inbox users will be notified in the app that it will stop working in about two weeks from the time of writing. Google has also dedicated a blog post to it. Google now prefers to focus its development manpower on a single email app and that is Gmail. For those who are used to Inbox, Google has prepared a short guide that explains which Inbox features are already in Gmail.
Inbox has always been a test environment for Google to test email innovations. Things like snoozing emails and smart replies were initially introduced in Inbox before coming to Gmail. As for the Inbox innovations not currently in Gmail, 9to5Google writes that the internet giant is “working hard” to transfer those as well.
It is of course possible to sideload Inbox on an Android device, but the question is to what extent the app will actually continue to function after Google has officially put an end to it.
Google introduced Inbox at the end of 2014. The application for Android and iOS was initially only available by invitation and was presented as a ‘smart’ e-mail service.
