Google will show related conditions when searching for symptoms
Google’s search engine, at least in the US version, will show related conditions when searching for symptoms. For example, users should find out more quickly which disorders belong to the symptoms they fill in.
Google gives an example that if users enter ‘headache on one side’, the search engine returns with results such as ‘common cold’ and ‘migraine’. The information comes from web links that link certain symptoms to certain conditions, while Google also uses its Knowledge Graph to find out if that info is correct. The search engine also claims to work with doctors to check the info.
The search engine displays the results at the top of the screen with a bar and maps. This makes them stand out more than regular search results. Google warns that a search cannot replace a doctor under any circumstances and that users should always contact their doctor if they have concerns. The feature will initially be available to US users and will be available online for other countries and languages at a later date.
