Google will release Assistant for Android TV in the US in a few months
Google has announced that it will release its Assistant on Android TV in a few months. The company does this for American Android TV devices with Android 6.0 or higher. In addition, the feature will be available on Nvidia’s Shield TV.
For example, the feature should allow users to play content by using the “play Stranger Things on Netflix” command to play the respective series. In addition, it must be possible to search for content, ask questions and control devices in the home. Google reports that the function on the Nvidia Shield works hands-free, so that the user only has to start his command with the familiar words ‘OK Google’.
The company goes on to say that the Assistant will come to other devices over time, including wearables and cars. Google is now working with other manufacturers, such as Daimler and Hyundai, on applications for the virtual assistant. For example, you should be able to ask via Google Home how much petrol is left in the tank before departure. Google expects announcements about this in the course of the CES fair.
Google only talks about American devices in its announcement. It is not yet clear whether and when the feature will be available outside the US.
