Google will put ads in Discover feed
Search giant Google will place ads in the Discover feed, where users can read news tailored to them in the Google app or on the page to the left of the home screen. There will also be more ads in Google Assistant and on the YouTube home page.
The advertisement cards appear between the regular news headlines and are labeled ‘Ad’, according to images that Google has put online. That feed is the home screen of the Google app on Android. According to the search company, which monetizes personalized online ads, advertisers can reach hundreds of millions of users with ads in the Discover feed, YouTube app and Gmail.
Last year, Google already did a test with ads in the feed, in which mainly news items appear from well-known and lesser-known websites. That test stopped again, but from somewhere this year ads will appear again.
The YouTube ads will appear on the app’s home page. There are also ads in the image search engine. The search giant is announcing the arrival of more ads at Google Marketing Live, its own event taking place this week in San Francisco.
