Google will provide more information about search results
Google will add a function to English search results to find more information about the source found. For example, users should be able to better assess whether a source is reliable.
The function is called ‘About this result’ and is located below the three buttons to the right of the search result. That opens a pop-up with information about, among other things, how long ago Google first indexed the site, how the site describes itself and what other sources are saying about it. It is unknown when the information will become available in other countries.
The new feature in search is part of a larger set of announcements Google is making at developer conference I/O. For example, the search giant spoke about Multitask Unified Model, or Mum. That should follow the current BERT algorithm. Mum must be able to use images and text at the same time to answer questions.
In addition, augmented reality models of athletes appear in search results. Users can click through directly and are asked to take a surface in the camera image, after which the software lets athletes do tricks in augmented reality.
