Google will link fewer services to Google+
Google plans to no longer link a number of services with Google+. This makes it possible to comment on YouTube, without comments also appearing on Google+. The photo app was previously removed from Google+.
According to Google, it does not always make as much sense to link existing services to Google+. With immediate effect, YouTube has already been disconnected from Google’s social network, which has not achieved the popularity Google hoped for. Users can now comment on YouTube without those comments appearing on Google+.
In addition, content creators will soon be able to set up a video channel without having to have a Google+ account. Google warns channel owners not to delete their Google+ page at this time; their channel will disappear too. However, this will become possible in the coming weeks.
It will also be possible to use Google services without automatically having a Google+ account. Users with a Google account can delete their Google+ profile in the coming months. Google previously removed the Photos app from the Google+ app. According to Google, not all the functionality that Google+ had is useful for a social network.
