Google will hold developer conference I/O from May 8 at its headquarters
Google will hold its developer conference I/O from May 8-10 at its own headquarters in the US city of Mountain View. The search giant announced this with an online puzzle on a teaser site. It’s the third year that I/O has taken place in Google’s own backyard.
Google posted a teaser site on Wednesday with clues to the date and location of I/O. That location is the Shoreline Amphitheater and the dates are May 8th through 10th. This makes the planning of the event in line with last year, when it took place in mid-May at the same location.
In addition, the teaser site contains an image of a cake with pineapple. The next Android version will be named with a P and Pineapple has been circulating for some time as a candidate name for the next version of Google’s mobile operating system. The search giant has been keeping the name of the Android version secret for years until just before its release. This usually takes place at the end of the summer or in the fall.
Google I/O is a developer-focused event, kicking off with a few hours of keynote announcements. Last year, the search giant paid a lot of attention to Assistant, Photos and Android Go.
