Google will remove Google Play Music files on February 24, the company reports in emails to users. Google Play Music stopped as of October last year and initially Google gave users until December to transfer their files.

Google warns that users have no way to recover data it deletes from Play Music on February 24. It is not known whether the company will delete all Play Music data on that day, but according to 9to5Google, Google mentioned that day in multiple warning messages to users.

Google announced last year that from October 2020 it would no longer be possible to listen to music via Play Music. Until December, the company gave users the option to view and transfer their playlists, uploads, purchases, radio stations, history and likes to YouTube Music via a special tool. Alternatively, this can be done via Google Takeout.

In practice, Google extended this period, but access to the service will be closed permanently on February 24.
