Google wants to rank sites with encryption higher in search results

Google would have plans to place websites that use encryption higher in the search results. The internet company may want to encourage website builders to make their websites more secure.

That says The Wall Street Journal citing sources at Google. According to the American business newspaper, these are for the time being ideas that play at Google, so it is not yet certain whether they will actually be implemented.

If the plans make it to the finish line, websites that use encryption will receive a higher position in the search results of the internet giant. However, according to The Wall Street Journal, it may take some time before the change, if applied, becomes visible in the search results.

Google probably wants to ‘reward’ websites with encryption to ensure that website creators are encouraged to build in security. This would make it more difficult, for example, for intelligence services to tap information and for hackers to steal information. Google itself did not want to give any information about any plans.
