Google wants to bring to-dos and reminders together in Google Tasks
Google wants to make Google Tasks the central hub for both to-dos and reminders. Google Tasks should soon be usable from both Gmail and Calendar and should be synchronized between the different systems.
In a blog announces Google recommends that it should be easier to add both to-do’s and reminders to Google Tasks. The idea is that Google Tasks should become the central place to create to-do lists and set reminders. In addition, Google Tasks must be accessible from Gmail and Calendar.
These different functionalities are still divided over various Google apps. In addition to Google Tasks, there is a separate reminder system in Google Calendar and then there is also Google Keep with which lists can be made. It is not clear exactly how Google Keep fits into Google’s new plan.
In Gmail, it should be possible to directly add a task to a to-do list from the inbox and Google Chat. Tasks can also be added to the to-do list from Google Calendar and even Google Assistant should support Google Tasks.
The update for Google Tasks should be available sometime in the coming months. Google will give access to a select number of users in the near future to test the new functionalities.
