Google Translate is getting more context options in translations

Google Translate will get more extensive contextual options for translating texts. Specifically, these are words that can have multiple meanings. For the correct translation of those words, the app takes into account the context of the text to be translated.

Google Translate gives from this month more context for words or sentences to be translated. The company gives an example of the English word ‘novel’. In English it can stand for a novel, but it can also mean something original or new. The app provides examples including explanations, so that the correct translation can be used.

This extension will be available in the coming weeks for the languages ​​English, French, German, Japan and Spanish. Support for other languages ​​will also be added in the coming months, although it is not clear which languages ​​will be affected and when that will take place.

Google will also implement a new design for the iOS version of Google Translate in the coming weeks, after the Android version was previously only given a new design. The field for typing texts will be larger and elements such as voice input and the translations via Lens should be more accessible.
