Google tests zoom for websites in Chrome for Android

Google is testing a website zooming feature in Chrome for Android. That replaces the accessibility feature to automatically zoom. The feature is already in the Canary version of Chrome.

The feature can be found under the down arrow next to the URL, according to Leo Varela’s image on Reddit. Users must first enable the Accessibility Page Zoom flag, after which the option appears under the arrow. The feature is in Canary, but not yet in the regular version of Chrome.

Chrome remembers the zoom level of each page, even after a browser restart. That is also the case on the desktop. The feature is intended to be able to adjust the zoom level for non-mobile optimized sites.

The location and the way it works could still change, says a developer at Google. It is still unknown if and when exactly the feature will appear in the stable version of Chrome.
