Google provides YouTube with a new page for games and discontinues its standalone YouTube Gaming app. The app should be completely phased out by March 2019. YouTube released the Gaming app in 2015, but many functions are now also included in the regular app.

The disappearance of the YouTube Gaming app is mentioned by Google in an announcement of the new gaming page on the video platform. It can be found at youtube.com/gaming and this page should replace the standalone app. Google says it will stop with the app because more people can be reached via the regular version of YouTube.

YouTube launched its Gaming app in 2015 and since 2016 the app has also been available in the Benelux. Among other things, the app got a dark mode and showed selections of channels with live streams of games. According to the Google Play Store, the Games app is installed on more than five million devices. It is not known how many installations the iOS app has. The regular YouTube app for Android has been installed over a billion times.
