Google stops selling digital magazines via News

Google will no longer offer subscriptions to digital magazines through its News service. Customers who used the service have been informed by the internet giant that new magazines can no longer be purchased.

In an e-mail to customers, Google informs that it is no longer possible to take out subscriptions to digital magazines, and that individual magazines can no longer be purchased. Magazines that the user already owns will remain available in PDF format. That reports Android Police, which has put a copy of the e-mail online.

Although no date is mentioned, the service seems to stop quite abruptly. Customers who have already paid for a monthly subscription will receive a refund.

Google started selling digital magazines through Play Magazines, later called Newsstand, in 2012. After that, the service was included in News. Probably the lack of customers has caused the service to be discontinued.
