Google seems to confirm the arrival of Pixel 6a in coloring book
Google has for the first time itself let some information slip about the Pixel 6a. The company mentions the name of the smartphone in a very striking place: a coloring book. That was given away to so-called ‘Pixel Superfans’.
The table of contents of the coloring book for Superfans mentions a Pixel 6a, which can be found on pages 6 and 7. The phone cannot actually be found on those pages, so the appearance of the device is not officially shown, but only the name confirmed. It is also striking that a Nest Hub Max is shown on page 6, which is not in the table of contents. All in all, the table of contents doesn’t seem to make much sense. Droid Life put the coloring book online.
Although it is the first time that Google has said something about a Pixel 6a, it is not the first sign of life for this smartphone. OnLeaks and 91mobiles came with renders of the device, based on OnLeaks sources. It shows that the phone is very similar to the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, with a similar ‘camera strip’, which contains two sensors and a flash. The Pixel 6a also gets a glass back with a two-tone finish, just like the current Pixel 6 devices. According to the two, the Google Pixel 6a will have a 6.2-inch AMOLED screen, compared to a 6.4-inch display in the Pixel 6 and a 6.7-inch display in the Pixel 6 Pro.
A later leak, coming from 9to5Google, contained information about the camera sensors. The Pixel 6a is said to use a Sony IMX363 sensor for the primary camera; it was also used in the Pixel 3 through Pixel 5a. That is in line with the idea that the a variant of the Pixel is more affordable than the regular variants.
