Google rolls out Android 5.0.1 to Nexus tablets

Google has announced Android 5.0.1 for aosp and also released the factory images of the new version of the operating system for Nexus tablets. The new version brings a number of bug fixes to the operating system.

Google has released the factory images of the updated version of the operating system for the Wi-Fi versions of the 2013 Nexus 9, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10. In addition, the update, codenamed LRX22C, has been sent to aosp.

The version is supposed to fix some bugs that crept into Android 5.0 Lollipop that a reader from Android Police lists. Among other things, the video playback problems that some Nexus 7 owners experienced should be a thing of the past.

A possibility that Android devices were accidentally reset has also been addressed. A user had to have set that the device would reset itself after giving incorrect input a number of times at the lockscreen, but this could also happen with unintentional input such as in trouser pockets.

Finally, the battery life of wearables with Android Wear should also be improved, claims Phandroid editor Derek Ross. It is not yet known whether the SMS problems of Vodafone customers have been resolved: the OS update is not yet available for Nexus phones at the time of writing.
