Google removes option to see tabs in Android multitask menu from Chrome

Google removed the option from the developer version of Chrome to make browser tabs appear as apps in Android’s multitask menu. It looks like the search giant will be removing the option from the browser for all users in the near future.

The “Merge Tabs and Apps” option is no longer in the latest developer build of Chrome, one Reddit user noted. The change is in version 51 of Chrome Dev and will probably come to the beta and then to the stable build of the browser in the coming weeks, Android Police thinks. With the disappearance of the option, tabs are always visible in the browser itself and no longer in the mutask menu in Android, which also contains all apps.

Google built the option to make tabs from Chrome appear as separate apps in the multitask menu for Android 5.0. It is currently an option in the browser to manage the tabs in the browser itself and for a few weeks now, displaying the tabs next to the url bar has been the default again.
