Google releases web app to keep one and a half meters away via ar
Google has released an experimental new app that makes it easier for users to keep a meter and a half away. Sodar is a web app for Chrome that makes it easy to see how much distance a user can keep from something or someone.
The website, sodar.withgoogle.com, can only be used in Chrome on Android for now. The website uses WebXR to show via augmented reality how large a circle of about two meters is around the user. The app is made by the Experiments With Googledepartment of the company. The app is also separate from the api that Google is developing together with Apple for contact tracing apps.
Users must first scan the ground around them to calibrate the web app. Then they see a circle around themselves indicating a distance of two meters. Two meters is six feet, the measurement distance that is used in America instead of one and a half meters.
